Foster Grandparent Program

If you are an income-eligible senior, over the age of 55, who is interested in helping at-risk children, the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) may be the perfect opportunity for you.

FGP is dedicated to providing quality service while positively impacting our community. Our volunteers currently serve in six counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania, including Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene and Washington.

FGP volunteers address community needs by working up to 20 hours a week in schools, hospitals, drug treatment centers, Head Start Programs, day care centers and in many other non-profit agencies. They work with children and adolescents who are considered special need, exceptional and/or at risk.

While FGP provides each volunteer a modest, non-taxable stipend, we also provide reimbursement for out of pocket and travel expenses, supplemental accident and liability insurance and special recognition for their dedicated service.

While the tangible benefits are necessary, the volunteers enjoy the intangible benefits most of all: volunteer service enables older adults to remain active members of their neighborhoods and communities.

For more information, call (412) 263-3163 or (888) 217-9599 or visit our website.
