Red Cross Urges Local Residents to Use Fire Alarms
PITTSBURGH - The American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter wants you to be safe and ready in the case of a fire. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) release
For many people, pets are valuable members of
the family. Pets can be best friends,
bring comfort at the end of a long day, and make houses into homes.
Because the American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter
understands the irreplaceable role of pets, it offers courses in Pet First Aid.
Pet owners, pet sitters, and animal
enthusiasts alike will benefit from the information and training provided by
the course.
The course teaches many practical and crucial skills needed for pet safety,
such as how to give rescue breathing to a cat or dog, how to care for a pet
suffering from a burn or injured in a car accident, and what to do when a pet
becomes suddenly ill. Participants in the Pet First Aid course will learn
how to immediately respond to an animal medical emergency and provide temporary
assistance until professional veterinarian help can be obtained.
Classes cost $45, and all proceeds benefit the local disaster relief efforts of
the Red Cross. All classes will be held at the Downtown Pittsburgh
office; 225 Boulevard the Allies.
