Learning simple first aid techniques can give you the skills and confidence to help anyone in your home, your neighborhood or at work. The same goes for learning CPR, safe swimming, disaster response or emergency preparedness techniques.

Our chapter offers a variety of courses to help you stay safe. We train almost 50,000 individuals each year in southwestern Pennsylvania. Training is done through certification classes, educational seminars to large groups, at workplaces or in partnership with other organizations.
Courses we offer include:
- First Aid, CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
- Lifeguarding
- Youth Babysitting
- Professional Rescuer Courses (for those with a duty to repond)
- Instructor Training
- Community Education
- Disaster Training
About our Local Training
- Arrive
early. It is best to arrive 15 minutes prior to the class start time.
- Wear
comfortable clothing. Depending on the type of class, you may need to get down
on the floor to kneel, sit and lie. Wear appropriate clothing for this
activity.
- Meals will
not be provided.
- Parking
will not be provided. If taking classes at the Chapter Headquarters in downtown
Pittsburgh,
please allow yourself additional time to find parking.
- To be
eligible to earn certification in a course, you must plan to stay for the
entire length of the course.
- Paper and
writing utensils will be provided.

Refunds. All registrations are final. Our chapter does not give refunds for registered classes unless the class is cancelled by the Red Cross . We reserve the right to cancel classes due to emergencies, weather or insufficient enrollment. If this happens, we will contact you 24 hours in advance and give you the option to reschedule, transfer to another class or request a refund.
