Halloween Safety Tips
  • Map out your route so that an adult may know where you are at all times.
  • Bring a flashlight.
  • Do not enter a stranger's house.  Accept treats only at the door.
  • Use face paint instead of masks, which will limit visibility.
  • So that drivers can easily see you, wear light-colored clothing, and use reflective tape on clothing and props, including bikes, skateboards, and brooms.
  • Walk on the sidewalks and not in the street.
  • Look both ways before crossing the street, and only cross from the corner.
  • Be aware that Wigs, capes and costumes are flammable attire.  Avoid open flames.
  • Use a glow stick instead of a candle in your jack-o-lanterns to prevent a fire hazard.
  • Be careful of moving vehicles, and don't hide between or behind parked car.
  • Only visit homes that have their lights on, and do not walk through the lawn.
  • Be cautious around strange animals, especially dogs.
  • An adult should inspect candy when children are done trick-or-treating.  Throw away any open packages and choking hazards.
