RED CROSS RESPONDS TO LAST NIGHT’S AREA FLOODING
PITTSBURGH - After heavy rains chased several families from their flooded homes last night, American Red Cross volunteers responded immediately to understand fully what they could offer families hit by storm damage. Early reports speculate more than 30 families suffered minor flooding in the northern part of Allegheny County. Today, teams of Red Cross volunteers from the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter are canvassing the areas of Tarentum, East Deere, West Deere, Fawn and Frazer Townships, assessing who they would be able to help with disaster-caused immediate needs in the next few days. Red Cross volunteers have traveled to affected neighborhoods distributing booklets on how to properly clean and disinfect homes after flooding. They are also distributing Red Cross clean-up kits, a box of supplies which includes brooms, mops, and cleaning solutions.
